When The Machines Attack… Make Friends With Them

It’s amazing the technological power we can carry around with us. The storage, apps, programs and games we can cram into smartphones are greater than what desktop computers could offer just a few years ago.

And don’t even get us started on the ENIAC, the first fully functional digital computer, completed in 1946. It occupied about 1,800 square feet and used around 18,000 vacuum tubes, weighing almost 50 tons.

At NHS Global Events, our voyage through the 21st century is under the guidance of Business Operations Manager Albert Bautista. One of Albert’s first tasks was to get NHS Global Events to the cloud. “So if the team is on-site for an event, they can access the information they need without logging onto the server,” he explains.

Albert is also pleased with the incorporation of other programs into the daily regimen of the NHS Global Events work day. “We wanted to reduce the number of emails we were sending and to bolster our ability to communicate internally,” Albert says. That was accomplished with the use of Slack, a cloud-based communication tool.

Now, even some of our clients use it so we can provide real-time, live updates for programs and events.”

The NHS Global Events sales team adopted Salesforce last year to move the company’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool in the cloud. Concur Expense was incorporated to replace Excel spread sheets for reporting expenses. Concur Travel was brought on to facilitate travel policies and best practices, along with travel agency assistance.

And then there’s this. “One tool we also use that some have adopted for their personal lives is Trello. It’s a web-based project management tool that works like a checklist. One of our employees uses the tool to organize her personal calendar.”

All that technology can be overwhelming and lead to tech fatigue. But Albert says, “As long as you’re continually supporting the products and praising results and usage, you’re guaranteeing utilization. We present reports of the tools with time saved and advantages for using it at our staff meetings.”

One clear indication it’s working? NHS Global Events President Bill Lynch explained to a new client how to use Slack! Everyone at NHS Global Events understand technology is an amazing tool and an important component of our clients business. We believe that great technology, coupled with a high level of personal service benefits our clients and partners on a daily basis.

If you’re looking for the right program that will make your next event run smoothly, NHS Global Events is here to guide you.
