Take These Tips With You As You Travel
Susan Nicoletti is the Director of Creative Meeting Strategies for NHS Global Events and has traveled the world during her years in the hospitality business. We can all benefit from what she has learned from her travels.
She has shared some of her favorite travel tips:
- When first arriving at a destination that you need to be well-versed on, hire a local guide to get to know where you are, and, get some insider tips you can share with colleagues/clients;
- Call upscale hotel concierges before you arrive to help you make dinner and activity reservations. Concierge-referred customers usually get preferential treatment;
- Use the comments section of a reservation site of any kind to add in preferences which can sometimes result in extra service or perks. Don’t be shy about using these sections to your advantage;
- If you travel a lot, keep a toiletry bag packed with essentials at all times;
- Slip your delicate necklaces into drinking straws to keep them untangled after travel;
- Always ask the front desk or bellmen for a bottle of water – this is usually complimentary. As Susan notes, many hotels have done away with vending machines and having to leave the hotel at night to find a convenience store for this can easily be avoided.
If you have special tips that you’ve acquired during your globetrotting, please send them our way. We’d love to share them in a future edition of “Eventful.”
